As an owner of a cabin that is venturing into the world of Short Term Renting for the first time… I was surprised at how much there is to know (and how much I didn’t know).
I interviewed several local companies to manage my cabin and after doing so, the conclusion was crystal clear: Big Bear Lakefront Cabins was the only way to go.
What made it such a simple decision for me was their attitude toward all of my questions and concerns as well as some limitations and challenges that I had.
No matter what challenge or issue I put in front of them, their answer was, “Yes, we will find a way to make that work”
Really???? Think about the society that we live in today….who says that???
Today, the pattern response from everybody when posed with a challenge or issue is “No, we/you can’t do that because (insert excuse).”

I recommending Big Bear Lakefront Cabin's as a company to manage and control the rental use of your house or second home and here are some of the reasons why.
First not they do not manage just any home. So if they are willing to manage your house, your house must be special with extraordinary special features.
Why I chose them was because after living and working in Big Bear for 12 years I would meet with hundreds if not thousands of home owners and second home owners on virtually all the rental companies and heard all the horror stories, yet I had not heard complaints about Big Bear Lakefront Cabin's. They’re not perfect and I had my pet peeve’s, but I learned you just need to communicate with them so they can understand and work with you.
Unless you live in Big Bear and have a second home that you’re living in, you need a management company.
I saw that they would take care of all my rental needs--blow the snow, plow the berm, take care of the spa, prepare for guests and manage the calendar of rentals. Some agencies like air B&B require that you return confirmation to the perspective renter within 24 hours--who takes care of that for you is Big Bear Lakefront Cabin's. I know I don’t have time to manage a calendar. They will list your house on all know websites for you so your house is allowed to be viewed all over the nation.
Expect on all holiday weekends your house will be rented. The first year is the most difficult until your house is established and has a reputation.
Big Bear Lakefront Cabin's has been in business for over 20+ years. They have the staff in place to manage your house and many times the rentals are back to back and yet Big Bear Lakefront Cabin's makes it happen.
Remember your place must be special if they are willing to rent it for you.

I have been with a few other companies in Big Bear and have not found a company as great as Big Bear Lakefront Cabins. I have nothing but positive to say about you. When I talked to my neighbors a few weeks ago they also had nothing but good things to say about your company. I have 3 vacation rentals surrounding my home in the Summit area. They say the people coming into my home are very nice and courtesy. They have never had an issue with any of my tenants. They have had to call and file complaints numerous times on the other.
Me, myself I can not say enough about you and your crew. My house is always clean and well taken care off. If a small things goes wrong they don't charge me an arm and a leg, they charge me a normal fee or take care of it themselves. With other companies it was very common to get a bill for $50 for changing a light bulb. No joke!!
I have gone up there on short notice and have never found my heater on, or windows open in the winter. With some companies I have had things disappear in the home, not with yours. I always do a though walk though every time I go up there, I am a picky client. The only thing that I have found broken or missing which is the norm up there is Wine Glasses. If Wine glasses are the only thing that is broken after a busy season that is excellent.

GOALS
What type of investment goals do you have? Will you be investing for financial goals, family goals, or both? Will you be purchasing a vacation rental to maximize your rental revenue, or will you be using this home for your family and offset costs by renting your vacation home when you are not enjoying it? Both options can be great and invaluable investment opportunities for you and your family.
Size
3 to 5 bedroom, 2 plus bathroom homes will yield the best revenue, yet we know your budget may only allow for a 2 bedroom home. Guests prefer a minimum of 2 bathrooms, if possible.
LOCATION
The location is imperative when selecting your vacation home from an investment perspective. The most lucrative Big Bear rental locations are Lakefront, Lakeview, Walk to Lake, Moonridge, Walk to or Ski In / Out Snow Summit and Bear Mountain, walk to Village, Fox Farm, Castle Glen, and Boulder Bay neighborhoods. Fawnskin is becoming a more popular area as well when appropriately marketed. These locations can produce excellent rental income in the summer and winter months, keeping in mind the Lake areas produce the best rentals for the Summer and Winter months. Staying close to the lake, Village, and slopes will produce the best rental income.
For non-lakefront homes, 60% to 70% of your rental income will be generated from November through March, with an exception for Lakefront rental homes.
