Castle Rock Trail in Big Bear is a very popular trail located near the lake. Experience 2.7 miles of nature when you embark on this hike! It is rated as moderate and can be challenging for children, but it is not incredibly challenging. You will be rewarded with breathtaking forest views, rock structures, and the distant lake!

2. Pine Knot Trail

Pine Knot Trail in Big Bear will eventually bring you to the awe-inspiring Grand Viewpoint. You’ll begin your trek at the Aspen Glen Picnic Area. See incredible views filled with wildflowers, towering trees, and the lake on your way to the viewpoint. This 6.1-mile trail is considered moderately difficult, but many families find it very enjoyable!

3. Cougar Crest Trail

Your journey on the Cougar Crest Trail in Big Bear will begin at the Big Bear Discovery Center. You’ll get to see beautiful views of Big Bear Lake, mountains, and more during this peaceful hike. You will travel mostly uphill, but the gradual climb keeps the difficulty level at moderate.

4. Alpine Pedal Path Trail

The Alpine Pedal Path Trail is the perfect opportunity for hiking at Big Bear Lake if you are looking to walk at a leisurely pace. This easy trail is popular with both locals and visitors alike due to its gorgeous views and paved path. Relax on the benches found along the way, or pack a lunch to eat outdoors at the picnic tables!
